Road Trip Playlist 2014 #4

(Loren, Becky & Greg Kendall, me, Virgil & Lois Swearingen)

Review of June 8...
Wow, what a day yesterday--a great start to sharing with loving support churches with a high level of interest in he work we are a part of in Europe & Middle East.

Pastor Brian Smith and the North Modesto Church of God were just awesome; great reception and questions.  So blessed by their prayers for our family, and by the interest of heir children who wanted to pose for pictures.  Check out these future servants:

In the afternoon, I made the short drive to Fresno to the home of the Swearingens (more on them in a minute), and then we went together to First Church of God where we were able to share with Pastor Greg Kendall and a group who gathered for an informal presentation and Q&A.  Another great group with high interest and concern.  One couple had been to Cairo and served a few congregations in 2005 (?), so they brought their pictures and were asking with genuine concern about their brothers and sisters there.

Now, I'm determined to get a phone working today--such an unexpected, frustrating process--I really need today's song...

it's merely a song, on a blog post,
so read the rest of the post to find out what strange meaning Ken is drawing from it. :)

and now..., continuing with the 2014 Playlist...

Today, I'm gonna rest at the Swearingen's home - family friends of my in-laws for many decades now.  I love this couple because they're always so positive, so upbeat, so...Happy.

So why not think about Pharrell Williams insta-classic "Happy" today.

The Swearingen's are college friends of of Keli's parents Frank & Pat--they are "lifers"--those friends who have stayed close and despite the distance or time between visits can just pick right up where hey left off--it's awesome.

One of the reasons I love stayin with the Swearingens is that there is not a husband on the planet who demonstrates sincere love for his wife than Virgil does for Lois--nobody--it's convicting an inspirational all at ge same time.

As for the video, I'll give you two from Egypt.  Everyone around the world has made their own versions of this song, including the second with Egyptians throughout the country clapping along--but I gotta give it up to our kids' Middle School at Cairo American College.  They made this video to "Happy" ahead of winter break last year, before I had even heard the song in "Despicable Me 2"--way ahead of the bandwagon.  And, they got everyone from security, janitors, food service, teachers, and administration to clap, dance and sing along too--that's Happy.
